Alphonso Johnson and Friends came to play for the students at Reed Middle School. The band had sent out their letter and resume to 30 or more schools, but only two responded. Walter Reed, always jumping at musical opportunities, got to hear this band first.

Alphonso Johnson played with Weather Report, the outstanding assemblage of musical Olympians from the mightiest moment in jazz fusion history. His ability to relax and inform the audience was a rare combination of humor, generosity, and experience. The kids were instantly on board—and middle school students are a tough crowd!

The rest of the band was equally accomplished: Mario Austin on trombone, Jeff Richman on guitar, James Brandon Lewis on Sax, Matt Star on drums, and Gary Fugashima on keyboards. Amazing band, great concert, thanks to our music director at Reed, Stephen McDonough for saying "Yes!"

To all the donors that helped with the production of " Divine Travels " featuring Thomas Sayers Ellis , William Parker , Gerald Cleaver I would Like to Say Thank You so much . Its been a Long Process and the Record is finished . I am in the process of communicating with several Labels for possible release World Wide, and apologize for the delay . Art of trio is a Woodwind Trio consisting of Bari, Tenor Sax, and Flute. Drawing on the diversity of their musical backgrounds, Brzytwa, Lewis, and Robinson search for the common thread they share as deeply committed improvisers. Collectively the performers have spent time honing their chops with Traditional and Contemporary classical music, Jazz, and Electronic music. Together, they have cultivated abeautifully distinctive vocabulary of long tones, rhythmic grooves, tonal lattices, and vibrations of microtonal clashing and resonance. The players have performed in a diversity of venues both domestic and abroad such as Roy Disney Concert Hall, Gilles Peterson’s WorldWide Festival, Festival des Musiques Innovatrices, and many others. They will make their New York Debut at John Zorn’s The Stone” in June 2012. This ensemble performs creative, improvised music that draws on the traditions of Jazz, Chamber, Electronic music and beyond.

Well " Moments " debut album from saxophonist James Brandon Lewis is doing well in the Market place . It has been featured on various radio stations such as KSDS 88.3 in San diego. A great review featured on www.jazzreview.com . Also the Jblewis quartet recently played a gig at Universal Bar and Grill which feature Jack Kyokong on Bass, Keita Akutsu on drums and Robert Holliday on piano .It was really great and there was a pretty good crowd video from this soon .
