A Free jazz Convention is taking place at Clemente Soto Velez Saturday April 27,2019
It's a daylong artist-driven summit to address issues musicians face in the creative economy.
There will be panels with Luke Stewart, Brandon Lopez, Cooper Moore, Darius Jones, D.D. Jackson, Jaimie Breezy Branch, James Brandon Lewis, Matthew Shipp, Melanie Dyer, Melvin Gibbs, Patricia Nicholson Parker, Tanya Kalmanovitch, Ingrid Laubrock, Tomeka Reid, Val Jeanty, William Hooker and William Parker and there will be a chance to discuss and hang out with everyone. William Parker is going to lead a conduction at the end of the evening. All are welcome - come for the day or just for part of it!
